July 2007

Welcome to the reincarnation of meandmyswissarmyknife.com! Mom and Dad were having way too much trouble with the host of the site, so we've moved it over here to blogspot. Hopefully this will make it easier on everyone. I've moved most of my words to this site, but pictures and a few special features aren't here yet - kala suuru. See left for old posts.

I was called into Niamey by surprise last week because I've been chosen as one of three PCVs to work on a multimedia pilot project with Peace Corps's World Wise Schools program. I had to come in to find out more about it. But I'm headed back to the bush here in a minute - where I now enjoy solar power but still carry water on my head. Take care everyone!

Brittany-Sakina, dear heart - it's so wonderful to read your posts and enjoy your adventures vicariously. (actually, since it's cool and raining here, I MUCH prefer vicarious!) I thought of you this week as I'm reading a book called Nine Hills to Nambonkaha by returned PCV Sarah Erdman, recently of Cote d'Ivoire. Fascinating reading, but I must say that you are much the better writer. I hope you're saving all your notes, blogs, journals, diaries, etc. for a future book. It's a natural! Life on Whidbey is much the same as always in the summer. Lots of community involvement this summer for both Dave and me - we're planning travels to Rome for Christmas and back to Guatemala again in Feb. for more Spanish. I'd love to send you something you need/want if I knew what it was and where to send it. Post your whereabouts with some kind of an address and let me know what you'd most like to have. Love and hugs from both of us - Cathy and Dave
